Notes
Notes and comments: The copyist wrote the text generally in black ink, and used red ink to write the titles and to write the word ((his saying)), on a newly made inscription, and a number of its leaves were omitted and added in a different script. Copies: See Fahris Khudabakhsh 5/1/52, 30/24-25, including many copies in various treasure troves and parts of copies, and see: Brockelmann 1/159 and its appendix 1/262. | The date of completion of the book's writing was confirmed from the Library of the Chief Writer, No. (194); It was stated in it: “The author, may God Almighty have mercy on him, said that his collection, Ahmad bin Ali, was completed... on the first day of Rajab Al-Farad in the year one hundred and eight forty-two, except for what he added to this booklet on the twelfth of Rajab of that year. He collected the introduction in the year thirteen and began explaining it in the beginning of the year seventeen, and praise be to God.”
Sample Text
As for what follows, this is the time to begin what I intended from “Explanation of Al-Jami’ Al-Sahih” according to what I promised at the beginning of the introduction, and I was determined to present the hadith of the chapter verbally before explaining it, then I saw that because the book was very long, so I now took a middle path in it that I hope will benefit it, claiming, with what I called it, that God does not burden a soul with more than it can bear... It contains ten hadiths from the Companions and Followers, three of which are connected, and on the fatwa of Amr Abi Musa and Ibn Masoud. And from the brilliant conclusion of the compiler in this book, I concluded the book on tayammum by saying: It is sufficient for you to indicate that sufficiency with what I have mentioned is attained by whoever ponders and understands, and God Almighty knows best.
