On the title page there is an objection to the work for not mentioning the Basmalah and the Shahada, in compliance with the prophetic command to do so, and not opening it with a sermon indicating its intention, then the response to that. | The last dictation by Imam al-Bukhari for his Sahih was in Bukhara in the year 252 AH, and the dictation before that was in February in the year 248 AH. Since his last dictation is considered a final highlight of the book, we have adopted it as the year of his writing, and some researchers have indicated that the year of his writing of the book is the year 232 AH.
