Notes
The date of completion of the book's writing was confirmed from the Library of the Chief Writer, No. (194); It was stated in it: “The author, may God Almighty have mercy on him, said that his collection, Ahmad bin Ali, was completed... on the first day of Rajab Al-Farad in the year one hundred and eight forty-two, except for what he added to this booklet on the twelfth of Rajab of that year. He collected the introduction in the year thirteen and began explaining it in the beginning of the year seventeen, and praise be to God.”
Sample Text
Praise be to God who explained the hearts of the people of Islam with guidance...and after; It is time to begin what I intended of explaining Al-Jami’ Al-Sahih, as I promised at the beginning of the introduction, and I was determined to present the hadith of the chapter with its wording before explaining it. Then I saw that this is one of the things that makes the book very long, so I now took a middle path in it... and I called it Fath Al-Bari with Al-Bukhari’s explanation... ... His saying, “Chapter on praying for post-partum women and its Sunnah,” meaning the Sunnah of praying upon them... is an untranslated chapter, as well as in the original version. And it is customary in such cases that it means separation from the chapter... (Conclusion) The book on menstruation included the hadiths that were raised from the Prophet. It contains forty-seven hadiths... and the hadith of Ibn Umar permitting a menstruating woman to leave, and it contains fifteen narrations that have been attributed to the Companions and Followers, all of them pending, and God knows best... It will be followed, God willing, by the book of tayammum.
