The last dictation by Imam al-Bukhari for his Sahih was in Bukhara in the year 252 AH, and the dictation before that was in February in the year 248 AH. Since his last dictation is considered a final highlight of the book, we have adopted it as the year of his writing, and some researchers have indicated that the year of his writing of the book is the year 232 AH.

How was the beginning of the revelation to the Messenger of God, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, and God Almighty’s saying: {Indeed, We have revealed to you just as We revealed to Noah and the prophets after him} ... Chapter on the Prophet’s hatred, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, for Medina to be exposed... On the authority of Hafsa bint Omar, who said: I heard Omar similar to it, and Hisham said, on the authority of Zaid, on the authority of his father, on the authority of Hafsa, I heard Omar, In the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. The book of fasting ended with the praise of God Almighty.

أخبرنا الفقيه الحافظ أبو علي حسين بن محمد بن ميارة الصدفي رضي الله عنه قراءة مني عليه بدانية حرسها الله، قال أنا الفقيه القاضي أبو الوليد سليمان بن خلف الباجي رضى الله عنه، قال أنا الشيخ أبو ذر عبد بن أحمد بن محمد الهروي قراءة عليه في المسجد الحرام، قال أنا أبو محمد عبد الله بن أحمد بن حمويه السرخسي بهراة سنة ثلاث وسبعين وثلاثمائة، وأبو إسحاق إبراهيم بن أحمد بن إبراهيم المستملي سلخ سنة أربع وسبعين وثلاثمائة، وأبو الهيثم محمد بن المكي بن محمد بن زراع الكشميهني بها قراءةً عليه، قالوا: أنا أبو عبد الله محمد بن يوسف بن مطر الفربري بفربر، قال حدثنا أبو عبد الله محمد بن إسماعيل بن إبراهيم البخاري.
