May God’s prayers and peace be upon him, it is a metaphor, and what is proven in the narrations of Al-Asili, Abu Al-Waqt, Al-Hamawi, and Al-Sarkhasi is that he ordered it to be cut off, and in the branch of Al-Yuniniyah, he ordered it to be cut off... ... A chapter on lengthening the prayer in the first rak’ah of the surah in all prayers... At that time the hearing and the tongue settle the heart, and the Sunnah is to lengthen the recitation of the first over the second in absolute terms.
