The last dictation by Imam al-Bukhari for his Sahih was in Bukhara in the year 252 AH, and the dictation before that was in February in the year 248 AH. Since his last dictation is considered a final highlight of the book, we have adopted it as the year of his writing, and some researchers have indicated that the year of his writing of the book is the year 232 AH.

Chapter on pictures: Adam told us, he said: Ibn Abi Dhi’b told us.. on the authority of Ibn Abbas, on the authority of Abu Talha, who said that the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, said, “Angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or pictures.. ... Chapter on the verse of the hijab... Then Omar ibn al-Khattab saw her while he was in the council and said, ‘I recognize you, O Sawda, out of concern for the hijab to be revealed.’ She said, ‘So God revealed the hijab.’
