He wrote at the end of the copy, with a missing leaf between it and what comes after it. | The last dictation by Imam al-Bukhari for his Sahih was in Bukhara in the year 252 AH, and the dictation before that was in February in the year 248 AH. Since his last dictation is considered a final highlight of the book, we have adopted it as the year of his writing, and some researchers have indicated that the year of his writing of the book is the year 232 AH.

وقفَ هذا الكتابَ الحاج مصْطفى عاطِف بشرْطِ أَن لا يخرجَ مِن خزانتِه سنة 1154هـ. وكتب فوقَ ختمِ الوقفِ بيتين مِن الشّعرِ قالَ فيهما:هو المالك، منَ الكتبِ التي وقفها فيما بنى وشاد ** لمَن طالعَها واستفادَ مِن العبادسائلًا منه أَن يذكرَه بالخيرِ والرّحمة ** فرحِم اللهُ مَن كانَ مِن أهلِ الخيرِ والرّحمةالعبد الأقل مصطفى العاطف كفاه الله تعالى يوم لا عاطف.
