The last dictation by Imam al-Bukhari for his Sahih was in Bukhara in the year 252 AH, and the dictation before that was in February in the year 248 AH. Since his last dictation is considered a final highlight of the book, we have adopted it as the year of his writing, and some researchers have indicated that the year of his writing of the book is the year 232 AH.

“The book of seeking permission, the beginning of peace, Yahya bin Jaafar told us, Abd al-Razzaq told us, on the authority of Muammar... on the authority of Abu Hurairah, on the authority of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace. God created Adam in his image, sixty cubits tall, so when God created him... then listen to what they greet you, for it is their greeting and the greeting of your offspring... so they said, ‘Peace and mercy of God be upon you. I am the companion of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace... Do you know what the right of God Almighty is over His servants? I said, “God and His Messenger know best.” He said, “The right of God over His servants is that they worship Him and not associate anything with Him... Do you know what the right of His servants is over God if they do it... That He does not punish them.” End of Part Twenty-Six..
