He wrote at the beginning of the books that the volume contains. - They are heavy with corrections, comments, footnotes, and transcription differences in the margin. - They were written in Moroccan script. - He wrote in the margin an internal division of the Sahih amounting to twenty-six parts, and sometimes he wrote twenty-four, so let him grow! | The last dictation by Imam al-Bukhari for his Sahih was in Bukhara in the year 252 AH, and the dictation before that was in February in the year 248 AH. Since his last dictation is considered a final highlight of the book, we have adopted it as the year of his writing, and some researchers have indicated that the year of his writing of the book is the year 232 AH.
