Praise be to God for what has prevailed in understanding... As for what follows, in this dictation I intend to clarify what occurred in the Sahih of the venerable Imam Abu Abdullah Muhammad bin Ismail Al-Bukhari, such as strange pronunciation, ambiguous parsing, difficult lineage, or a narrator whose name is feared to be misrepresented, or an incomplete predicate whose completion is known... and it is called recension due to the correct syntactic words. ... It is as if my mothers were keeping me company with the dictionary ḍā’, meaning they carried me and sent me to be consistent in his service and to persevere in it. It is narrated with the neglected tā’ and the hamza from the accompaniment.... The correct one is in Safiya’s narration on the authority of the wives of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, and it is one of the hadiths... A sentence called for in the place of... the feast.
