The last dictation by Imam al-Bukhari for his Sahih was in Bukhara in the year 252 AH, and the dictation before that was in February in the year 248 AH. Since his last dictation is considered a final highlight of the book, we have adopted it as the year of his writing, and some researchers have indicated that the year of his writing of the book is the year 232 AH.

Muhammad bin Yusuf told us, Ahmad bin Yazid bin Ibrahim Abu Al-Hasan Al-Harrani told us, Zuhair bin Muawiyah told us, Abu Ishaq told us, I heard Al-Baraa bin Azib say: Abu Bakr, may God be pleased with him, came to my father in his house and bought a bag from him. He said to Azib, “Send your son to carry it with me.” He said, “So I carried it with him, and my father came out criticizing its price. My father said to him, ‘O Abu Bakr, tell me how you did when you walked with the Messenger of God, may God bless him and grant him peace.’ He said: ‘Yes.’” We spent the night in captivity, and from the next day, until noon rose, and the road was empty and no one could pass by, so a tall rock was raised for us, with a shadow over which the sun did not reach, so we camped by it. I made a place for the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, to sleep on with my hand, and I spread a fur in it and said, “Sleep, O Messenger of God, and I cleared for you what was around you, so he slept... ...Chapter on the marriage of the Prophet, may God bless him and grant him peace, to Aisha, her coming to Medina, and his building therein.
