He wrote at the end of the fifth part, numbered (HHAYRI-ABDEF173-5): The first half of Sahih al-Bukhari was completed on the blessed Thursday, the fifth of the month of Jumada al-Awwal, in the months of one hundred and fifty-two of the Prophet’s Hijra, and the last part of the book ended: (HHAYRI-ABDEF173-10): On the blessed Monday in the holy month of Muharram, the opening of the year one thousand one hundred and fifty-two of the Prophet’s Hijra. - Date of death of the copyist: alive in the year 1152 AH. | The last dictation by Imam al-Bukhari for his Sahih was in Bukhara in the year 252 AH, and the dictation before that was in February in the year 248 AH. Since his last dictation is considered a final highlight of the book, we have adopted it as the year of his writing, and some researchers have indicated that the year of his writing of the book is the year 232 AH.
