The aim of this study is to determine the approach to recitations and the quality of using recitations in the commentary titled Te'vîlâtü'l-Kur'an of Mâtürîdî (d. 333/944), one of the early commentators who wrote important works in the fields of theology, fiqh and tafsir, and was one of the sectarian imams of the Ahl al-Sunnah belief. The tafsir, who narrated many authentic and pure recitations in his tafsir, followed a unique method in conveying the recitations. Māturīdī included recitations that are related to tafsir and affect the meaning, especially in the context of the recitation-interpretation relationship, and mentioned the contributions of these recitations to the interpretation of the verses. In addition, the commentator also benefited from the recitation aspects in supporting the interpretation of the verse. In this method, he first explained the meanings of the verse and then supported this interpretation with recitation aspects. The commentator, who made extensive use of the recitations of the Companions in this context, stated that the recitations attributed to the Companions have an important source value for tafsir. As a result, the phenomenon of recitation in Maturidi's tafsir, his style of processing recitations, how he used recitations in his fiqh and sectarian tafsir and interpretation activities were determined, and his method was examined in comparison with other tafsir sources.
