Notes
Although curiosity and interest in emotions have increased both anthropologically and sociologically in recent years, studies in this field in Turkey are quite limited. In particular, the relationship between emotions and Islam is almost ignored. In this sense, this article focuses on the poet Necip Fazıl Kısakürek, who is considered one of the most influential names of the Islamic/Islamist movement in Turkey, especially with his Büyük Doğu thought and magazine. The study analyzes the intellectual and emotional change in Kısakürek's life, the relationship of this change with his understanding of Islam, the detailed analysis of some selected famous poems, and his contribution to the Islamic movement of his period through hope. Although the change in Kısakürek's life allows the analysis of many emotions, this study is limited to hope and love, which is the driving force of hope. This study focuses on his autobiography, O ve Ben, in which he tells his life, and his work, Çile, in which he collected all his poems. The analysis of Kısakürek's life and poems reveals that having an Islamic purpose and responsibility that came with his love, as a result of meeting his teacher Abdülhakim Arvasi, built a collective and resilient hope. The article claims that this hope built by Necip Fazıl has a great role in the Islamic movements in Turkey.
