Notes
In the early periods of the history of Islamic thought, we witness some efforts aimed at identifying and sanctifying the language of revelation with revelation. Among those who somehow made this effort were jurists such as Imam Shafi'i (d. 820), linguistic scholars such as Ibn Qutayba (d. 889) and Ibn Fâris (d. 1004), theologians such as al-Bâkıllânî (d. 1013), hadith scholars such as an-Nîsâbûrî (d. 1014), and There are commentators such as Fahreddin er-Râzî (d. 1210) as well as Islamic philosophers such as İhvân-ı Safâ (10th century). Those who defend this idea generally subject some Qur'anic verses that refer to the Arabic language to forced interpretation, and also use some hadith narrations whose authenticity is questionable and are considered unreliable by the majority of hadith scholars. The Brotherhood of Safa, which is among the Islamic philosophers and strives to reconcile reason and revelation, both subjects the verses of the Qur'an to forced interpretation and resorts to some philosophical thought theories regarding the order of existence in order to base its thoughts on the subject. The purpose of this study is to critically evaluate the views of Muslim scholars and thinkers whose names are mentioned, who generally try to sanctify the language of revelation as well as revelation, in the context of philosophy of religion.
