In order to analyze the Ottoman understanding of hadith, it is necessary to first reveal what was done in that period. In order to contribute to this wide-ranging effort, four works related to the famous intention hadith, one of the single hadith commentaries of which many examples were seen in the Ottoman period, are discussed in this article. Commentaries on the hadith of intention belonging to Kafiyeci, Ahmed Çelebi, İbn Kemâl and Ayşî Mehmed Efendi were first handled individually and then compared in terms of both concepts and some elements affecting the interpretation.
