Notes
Camel riding is an important value of Turkish culture, which includes many practices and rituals. The regions where camel farming is a way of life have carried many practices and rituals related to camels, camel breeding and camel wrestling to the present day. In settlements where camel farming is dominant, the process of dressing havut is called "havutlama". The "havut charity" performed afterwards is a part of the camel breeding culture that includes ritual practices. In this study, the importance of "haut charity" ritualistic practices in terms of camel breeding will be emphasized. The aim of the study is the effect of the rituals performed in havut charity practices in Turkish culture on social life in the context of camel breeding culture. To carry out the study, firstly, literature review and field work were carried out. In-depth interviews were conducted with camel owners and resource persons who have made this job a profession, from Southern Marmara to the Mediterranean Region. In order to accurately perceive the Havut charity rituals, recording and documentation were carried out with the permission of the source persons.
