Notes Abdurrahman b. Khalid, the famous companion Khalid b. He is the son of Walid. He was distinguished both by his usefulness in the Islamic conquests on the Syrian front in his youth and by Muaviye b. He is one of the companions who attracted attention with his support in the power struggle of Abi Sufyan and his successes in the campaigns against Byzantium in Anatolia. However, his life and activities were overshadowed by other events and people in Islamic History, and for this reason he became one of the lesser-known companions today. Abdurrahman, who spent his childhood in Mecca and part of his youth in Medina, was eleven years old. He grew up with the Prophet (pbuh) and became his companion. As soon as he could hold a gun, he participated in the Islamic conquests with his father. At the age of eighteen, he was assigned to command a small military unit in the Battle of Yarmouk in 636. In the years after his father's death, he constantly visited Muaviye b. It is understood that he sided with Abi Sufyan. As a person loyal to Muaviye, Hz. During the internal turmoil during the Ottoman period and Hz. He sided with Muawiyah in his power struggle with Ali and even became one of his most prominent men. Abdurrahman, who followed Muawiyah's command throughout his life, commanded many raids on Byzantine lands in Anatolia during his caliphate and put up a successful fight. However, these successes later caused Muawiyah to see him as a potential rival, and he was poisoned and killed on Muawiyah's orders. In this study, we will try to reveal his historical identity based on the narrations about Abdurrahman.
