Notes Judaism, Christianity and Islam, which emerged in nearby geographies and cultural basins and continue their existence, have many common elements in terms of theology, history, ritual and culture. Chief among these is Abraham, who is an important person for all three religions in terms of faith and lineage. In particular, Abraham's two sons, Ishmael and Isaac, whom Jews and Arabs regard as common ancestors both in lineage and belief, are of great importance in this context. This can be understood from the various narratives about the lives of these names in the sacred texts of the two religions. Since Jews see Isaac as the sole representative of Abraham's lineage and faith, they tried to interpret the information in the Torah about Ishmael's life with a largely negative approach towards Ishmael in order to support this claim. Even though this atmosphere dominates Jewish literature, it is seen that there are some comments opposing this approach in the sources. In addition, it is seen that in the Jewish tradition, the expression of Ishmael's lineage, or Ishmaelites, has been subjected to a broadening of meaning over time, and is used in a sense to refer to Muslims, especially in post-Islamic sources, and to all groups opposed to the Jews in wider use. In this study, the narratives about Ishmael in the basic works of Jewish religious literature such as Bereşit Rabba, Shemot Rabba, Talmuds, Pirke DeRabbi Eliezer, Midrash Tanhuma, Rashi, Ibn Ezra, Targum, Nahmanides and Sefer Ha-Yashar have been tried to be evaluated by pointing out alternative interpretations. A kind of narration criticism was attempted by examining the relationship between these literatures and pointing out the common sources of those who included the same narrations or the works in which the narrations were first used. In addition, it has been examined whether there is a difference in the narrations about Ismail in Pirke DeRabbi Eliezer, Rashi, Ibn Ezra, Nahmanides and Sefer Ha-Yasar, which are dated after Islam, and the possibility of talking about the influence of Islam on this literature has been investigated. In the study, by using the documentation method, the narrations and information about Ismail in Jewish sources were obtained, these were written down by the descriptive method, and evaluations were made by asking questions about the works and narrations with the comparative method.
