Notes
The research, which was conducted to examine how people with bipolar disorder experience romantic relationships, was structured on a phenomenological pattern and the interview technique was used within the framework of a qualitative research approach. The data were examined with thematic analysis. During the review, in-depth analysis was made by interpreting and making inferences. The research was conducted with a total of 6 individuals with bipolar disorder, aged 23-38, 4 women, 2 men, 2 married and 4 in the dating period, who were reached using the purposeful sampling method. A semi-structured interview form was used as a data collection tool. Five themes were found in the phenomenon: The interruption of the need for emotional closeness, the therapeutic power of regular medication and psychotherapy, if there is a culprit, it is "mine", the positive effect of a sensitive partner on the course of the disease and relationship, and survival in a rough sea. Increasing anxiety symptoms due to difficulty in emotion regulation disrupt emotional intimacy as well as affecting depressive feelings. A sensitive partner, regular medication use and psychotherapy support positively affect the relationship and the course of the disease. It was concluded that people tend to consider themselves guilty during arguments.
