Notes
Although their origins date back to ancient times, suicide attacks emerged and increased mainly in the second half of the 20th century. Suicide attacks, which were initially seen at the local and regional level, later gained an international dimension with the emergence of organizations such as Al-Qaeda. Today, suicide attacks have become one of the most important tactics used by organizations that want to achieve their political goals. Suicide attacks are organizational actions; Both military and civilian elements are targeted in these actions. The fact that both military and civilian elements are targeted in the actions requires that suicide attacks be considered as a crime (terrorist act). In this article, suicide attacks are discussed with their sociological and historical dimensions in the context of international politics and terrorism.
