Companions, Hz. They are the first generation who were raised under the upbringing of the Prophet (pbuh) and sacrificed both their lives and their property without hesitation to understand the revelation and bring it to life. Companions' interpretation is very important in terms of understanding the revelation environment of the Quran and knowing the divine intention. The fact that the companions witnessed this environment, were aware of the specific or general causes of the events, knew the historical and temporal context of the events that caused the revelation of the verses, and lived a life intertwined with socio-cultural data in this sense, provide us with important data in terms of understanding the divine will. Because knowing the historical background that constitutes the context of meaning and benefiting from it, at least as a method, keeps a projection on history. Let's immediately state that the phenomenon called interpretation/exegesis cannot be realized without the use of rational reasoning. At this point, although the generation of companions seems to be luckier and more advantageous than the subsequent generations, they encountered some ambiguities during the time when the Quran was revealed and developed methods to solve them. Of course, these developed methods were not systematic as they are today. However, they spontaneously deciphered the meaning and interpretation based on the socio-cultural environment and by witnessing the historical course of events. Because the companions could understand the Quran without needing much guidance. Because the divine address had descended in their own language. However, not all of them knew all the subtleties of revelation at the same level. Because Hz. Although it is certain that the first generation after the Prophet (pbuh) avoided the interpretation of the Quran and stood behind in this sense, this situation soon opened the opportunity and door to understanding shaped by the beliefs and customs of people from different religions, races and languages who had recently entered the religion of Islam. At this point, the understanding of the first generation and the factors that form their conceptions of the Quran will be examined. In this study, we will focus on the source value of the Companions' commentary and the reasons why it is binding.
