The innovation and modernization efforts that started a little before the Tanzimat and the westernization that accelerated after the declaration of the Tanzimat, or in other words, false westernization, caused an erosion in the national spiritual values of the society, and this situation disturbed most intellectuals and artists. As a result of this discomfort, there were writers who expressed their concerns, discomfort and even fears about the future. In this article, a story by Ömer Seyfettin and an article by Yahya Kemal Beyatlı are discussed at the point of the mentioned discomfort. Ömer Seyfettin, who was born in Gönen district of Balıkesir in 1884, is one of the founding names of modern Turkish storytelling. The author, who died in 1920, packed many stories, poems, translations, essays and articles into his short thirty-six-year life. One of his stories is his autobiographical story called "First Prayer", which will be examined in this article. Another article that is the subject of our study is the article titled "Districts Without Adhan" by Yahya Kemal Beyatlı, who was born in 1884, like Ömer Seyfettin. Even though Yahya Kemal, who died in 1958, was mostly known for his poems, he also produced works in different genres of literature and in some of these works, he drew attention to national spiritual values and expressed his concern about the loss of these values. In our study, based on these two articles written in different genres, the importance of national and religious feelings for these two artists and the emotions caused by the possibility of their loss were examined.
