Since the beginning of humanity, the domination of the strong over the weak has been the biggest problem of societies. During the period of ignorance, women were perceived as a commodity owned by their fathers and husbands and were treated accordingly. Islam, which came to the rescue of humanity struggling to survive in darkness, prevented the oppression of women and also gave them the respect they deserve. Women's attainment of this prestigious position, which they could not even dream of during the period of ignorance, happened gradually during the 23-year period of prophethood. Women have gained equal rights with men in almost all areas of life, such as freedom of property, giving security, the right to inherit, learning knowledge, swearing allegiance, and being able to bear witness. They have also been brought to the fore in social life with positive discrimination in some areas. The biggest gain women achieved in this period was the acceptance of their personalities. Seeing that she was valued and addressed, the woman gained self-confidence, and Hz. Taking strength from the presence of the Prophet, his voice became stronger; He asked the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) about every issue without hesitation and was able to get answers. In this study, we tried to explain from a historical perspective what the situation of women was before the advent of Islam and what rights they gained with the advent of Islam.
