Mu'tazila, a founding school of Islamic thought, has made a name for itself in every period with the theological system it introduced, its rationalist, libertarian, questioning and critical religious discourse, and the original language it used. Mu'tazila, who introduced the field of faith systematically for the first time, declared his belief system in five principles. These principles, known as Usûl-i Hamse, are almost identified with Mu'tazila. Usûl al-Khamsa is the main point in which Mu'tazila differs from Ahl al-Sunnah in terms of religious interpretation. These principles are not principles that have only religious justifications and contents. On the contrary, these principles, which emerge under some socio-political factors, also have some political aspects. Knowing the background of these principles may lead to a better understanding of the Mu'tazili way of thinking. For this reason, our article is about examining the five principles in an organized manner. In the research, the religious discourse of Mu'tazila was analyzed and the background and content of the five principles were analyzed. Thus, this article is the product of an effort to take a closer look at religious discourse, which is not abstract from the political context and is woven with reason, philosophy and justice.
