Notes
The aim of this research is to analyze the socio-political issues that most affect women's current positions in order to understand their future in Turkey in light of their past in Syria. Although many studies have been conducted on this subject, most of them have focused on problem issues such as health, violence, discrimination, exclusion, psychological and spiritual health. However, from a different perspective, this study provided a platform for these women to talk on their own behalf, about their own experiences and their own plans for the future, and the data was collected with this understanding. This study gave the opportunity to determine that, after a five-year relationship with Syrian women, they developed friendships with the volunteer groups that helped them and later started their own entrepreneurship. It is a surprising finding that at the beginning of the research, when they first came to Turkey, women generally went and asked for help from aid organizations. Men have taken it upon themselves to ask for help for their families. Because this situation contradicts their role as traditional family managers. When some of the Syrian women started receiving help from Turkish women carrying out aid activities, a friendship developed between the two groups over time. Thus, over time, some Syrian women began to take part in aid activities for other Syrian refugees, together with Turkish women. A few of them later founded their own non-governmental organizations, a step that moved them from the role of victim to becoming active social entrepreneurs. Therefore, in order to better evaluate this change and transformation process in Syrian women, Amartya Sen and Martha Nussbaum's Capability Approach was used as a theoretical framework in this study. This study is important as it will open the door to further new research in social, political, cultural and gender fields. While the data in the study were collected with qualitative method tools such as participant observation, in-depth interview and focus group interview, data analysis was conducted with the hermeneutic method within the framework of the Capacity Approach.
