With the collapse of the Anatolian Seljuk State, XIV. Germiyanoğulları, one of the principalities that emerged in Western Anatolia in the 19th century, came from Maltese and settled in the Kütahya region. The principality took its name from the Germiyanlı tribe. Although the center of the principality was Kütahya, its borders expanded to Afyon, Uşak, Denizli, Kula and their surroundings.
