Notes In order to break the prejudices against the science of logic, al-Ġazālī gave an Islamic identity to the terms used by Aristotle regarding logic and attributed a divine importance to this science in his work titled al-Ḳısṭāsu'l-Mustaḳīm. The subject of this article is the analysis and analysis of a commentary written by the 18th century Ottoman scholar Mehmed Ṭāhir Lālezārī (d.1204/1789) on this work of Al-Ġazālī. In the article, information was first given about Lālezārī's life and works, and then some general observations were made about al-Ġazālī's commentary on his work in question. Finally, the verified text of the commentary in question, created from three different copies, is included. Al-Ghazālī attempted to bring an Islamic identity to the terms used in Aristotelian logic in order to break down the prejudices against it. He also gave a divine significance to logic in his work al-Qisṭās al-Mustaqīm (The Just Balance), an interesting text by an influential scholar that surprisingly hardly attracted any commentators. This article introduces the first commentary ever written on al-Qisṭās al-Mustaqīm by an 18th century Ottoman scholar Meḥmed Ṭāhir Lālezārī (d.1204/1789), discusses its contents, and attempts to uncover its relevance in the 18th century Ottoman context. In the first part of the study, information about the life and works of Lālezārī is given. This is followed by a general analysis of the commentary.
