Notes Individuals who do not have sufficient means to earn their living where they live voluntarily migrate to other cities or countries in order to achieve better financial conditions. The main reason behind this type of migration is war, earthquake, etc. It is not a necessity or any political reason, it is purely economic. Our expatriates immigrated to Germany in the early 1960s for this very reason. The first generation Turks who immigrated to Germany would earn a lot of money in a short time and return to their homeland in order to improve the economic conditions in their homeland. However, this was not the case. The first generation Turkish immigrants could not return and brought their spouses and children to the 'bitter homeland' of Germany, and over time, their children and grandchildren started working life in Germany. Currently, four generations continue their lives in Germany and earn their living from here. In this article, we will try to touch upon the working lives of 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation Turks living in Germany and the psycho-social effects of this working life on them.
