Notes As it is known, religion is one of the main factors that direct human life. The effects of the religion people believe in can be seen in their feelings and thoughts, their choices and attitudes. In the family, which is his first social environment, the child can adopt his parents' religious beliefs and actions over time by observing and imitating them. However, not all people show loyalty to the religious beliefs they acquired from their families in childhood until the end of their lives, and some people may abandon the religious beliefs they adhere to at some stage of their lives and enter into a search process. At the end of this search process, it is seen that there are people who abandon their old beliefs and switch to other religions and belief systems. In this context, some factors may have an impact on a person's relationship and communication with the God of the religion he believes in, and on the formation of the image of God in his mind, and the image of God can also be effective on many issues, especially conversion. In this study, the effect of God images on the conversion of 19 Christian participants aged 18 and over, who chose to convert to Christianity at some point in their lives despite being born in a Muslim family, and who participated in the research on a voluntary basis, was examined. When we look at the relevant literature, it can be seen that in addition to some studies on religious conversion and psycho-social factors that are effective in religious conversion, there are also studies on the concept of God and its relationship with different variables. However, the fact that no research has been found that directly examines the effect of the image of God on conversion from Islam to Christianity reveals the importance of the research in terms of contributing to the relevant literature. In this sense, the findings obtained from the research are important for the discipline of psychology of religion and may also guide studies in the field of religious education. In the research designed with a qualitative research pattern and carried out with semi-structured interview technique and participant observation methods, a number of open-ended questions were asked to the participants to determine their vision of God in their old religions and new religions. After receiving expert opinion and ethical approval regarding the interview questions prepared by partially benefiting from the relevant literature, pastors in different cities of Turkey were contacted through the website "kutsalkitap.org" and people who converted from Islam to Christianity by changing their religion were invited to the research via e-mail. Subsequently, pastors who wanted to voluntarily participate in the research by responding positively to the invitation e-mail were contacted and a day and date were determined for the interview. In addition, pastors were asked to inform other individuals who were members of their churches and converted to religion about the research, and thus, access was provided to individuals who converted to religion other than pastors. The interviews were held online between January and October 2022 due to both the pandemic conditions and the fact that the participants resided in different cities. In this process, individuals were tried to observe their feelings and thoughts during worship by participating in Sunday services from time to time with the permission of church leaders. The data recorded with the permission of the participants were transcribed and subjected to content analysis after the interviews were completed, and common themes and codes were determined. As a result of the research, it was seen that the majority of the participants before their conversion to religion imagined God as punishing, frightening, with whom no relationship or communication can be established, with whose love one cannot feel but must be respected, with whom one is ashamed, as one who does not forgive, and even if he were to forgive, he would punish him with hell beforehand. On the other hand, the images of God after conversion are those that give joy, enthusiasm, peace, happiness, well-being and excitement; loving; that makes you feel hope and confidence; A person with whom a positive relationship and communication can be established; that changes and transforms people; forgiving etc. It was seen to be in the form of . These answers showed that the participants had a very "negative" image of God before they converted, and a very "positive" image of God after they converted. Some suggestions were made based on the findings obtained at the end of the research.
