Notes
The first contact of Muslims with the Indian subcontinent was in the 1st/7th century. century, and the influence of Islam in the region has continued to increase since then. In addition to instilling Islamic values such as monotheism, justice and tolerance in Indian lands, Muslims have made great contributions to the development of Islamic civilization with their work in the fields of science, art and architecture, and with the scholars and intellectuals they have trained in almost every field.
