In Islamic thought, the issue of "will" is basically discussed within the framework of divine will, human will and the effect of divine will on human freedom. In this article, the subject of divine will, which has a special importance among the attributes of Allah, is discussed. In the science of Kalam, will is a competence that expresses that Allah is completely free and free in His commands and actions. As a matter of fact, in the visible world, a person who is characterized by will is not under coercion or pressure; he can choose his actions according to his own will. Among the divine attributes, will refers to the choice of one of the possible alternatives (makdurat) and the allocation of the time for its occurrence. There is a difference of opinion among the scholars of theology, who unanimously accept that Allah is a disciple, regarding the eternity of the will, its involvement with evil, and the fact that everything Allah wills is also in accordance with His command and consent. While Ahl as-Sunnah theologians tried to put forward an understanding of will that is compatible with the strong emphasis in the Quran that everything occurs within the framework of God's will, Mu'tazila, on the other hand, discussed the will, which they see as an act of God, within the principle of justice.
