Notes
With Article 5 of Law No. 429 dated March 3, 1924, the administration of all mosques, masjids and mosque officials in Turkey was given to the Presidency of Religious Affairs. However, with a budget law article in 1931, administrative powers regarding mosques, masjids and mosque officials were transferred to the General Directorate of Foundations. The return of mosques and mosque servants to the Presidency of Religious Affairs was only possible with an additional law regarding the Presidency enacted on March 23, 1950. Accordingly, while the primary authority such as the Presidency of Religious Affairs remained for about 20 years, the management of mosques and mosque servants remained in the General Directorate of Foundations, as it was known at the time, and this caused a duality in the provision of religious services, and this situation resulted in some It has caused negativities. In this article, the management of religious servants in our country, the aspect of mosque services and some of the problems experienced in this context during the years when mosques and mosque officials were under the General Directorate of Foundations are touched upon.
