Notes
In 1875, one hundred and sixty Christians from the Nevesin District of the Herzegovina Sanjak rebelled, using the heavy taxes as an excuse. Instead of suppressing the rebellion by using force, the Ottoman Empire sent rebel/intermediary advisors. In a short time, the number of rebels increased rapidly and the rebellion spread to a wide area in Herzegovina. Significant clashes occurred between Ottoman forces and rebels.
