Notes Being a sociologist requires looking at issues that everyone knows or thinks they know from a different perspective and examining things as they are. In a period when modernization gave way to postmodernization, the world became increasingly smaller due to the influence of globalization, cities grew to become metropolises, and living standards gradually increased, the transformation of youth, religiosity and family requires careful consideration. This study aims to examine the reasons for the increasing age of marriage among young people from both a religious and sociological perspective. Research; It suggests that urbanization, rationalization, individualization and secularization processes are effective in postponing the age of marriage. Qualitative research method was used in the said research, in which the phenomenological approach was adopted. The study consists of two parts: theoretical and applied. In the theoretical part, the concepts of family and marriage, youth and marriage age, and the processes that are thought to be effective in prolonging the marriage age are discussed. In the applied part, 15 people who were higher educated, urban, and defined themselves as conservative were interviewed and tried to analyze through field work how they evaluated family and marriage, and what were the factors affecting their delaying marriage or making their marriage decision late. Evaluations were made regarding their marriage preferences, religious perceptions and religious practices in the context of their relationships with the city and their level of urbanity.
