Notes The Islamic world has been in an encounter and confrontation with the West for the last two centuries. In the process of modernization, the history, society and self-conceptions of Muslim societies have changed very rapidly. In this sense, it can be said that the definition and framework of the concept of civilization has an important role. Because the concept of civilization, which has a central and vital place in the establishment and definition of Western modernity, also serves to distinguish the Western from others.
