Notes
In this study, we aimed to discuss Ibn Khaldun's theory of the State and how much this theory was reflected in the states established in Morocco and North Africa in the Middle Ages, and we specifically selected the case of the Almoravid state. However, we thought it would be useful to dwell on some of the concepts that Ibn Khaldun emphasized while putting forward this theory. Therefore, we tried to examine concepts such as asabiyyah, irtizak, hadar and bedouinism within the framework of the Almoravid state. How successful was Ibn Khaldun in examining the mechanism of the establishment of states in Morocco and North Africa in the Middle Ages? As it is known, the examples that Ibn Khaldun most frequently uses to support his state theory are the Almoravid and Muwahhid states mentioned above. So we chose the Almoravid state to control the theory. We first touched upon the relationship between Muqaddimah and al-Iber, and then Sanhaja and his political initiative. Then, we talked about the factors and events that Ibn Khaldun ignored when applying the theory in the Muqaddimah to the Almoravid state in al-Iber, in order to fit the theory, and in the end, as we said, these factors are important enough to refute the theory.
