Notes Dr. This study by Yılmaz Ari examines the Alevi culture and belief in Adıyaman by focusing on the perspectives of the dedes and the disciples. The author explores the role and importance of dedes as religious authorities and how they contributed to Alevi culture. The study acknowledges that Alevi culture still exists in the six hearths in Adıyaman and that dedes fulfill important roles such as conducting ceremonies and mediating conflicts, but the institution of dedelik has been affected by secularization, leading to changes in religious and social values. The study also highlights the weakening of the relationship between grandfather and suitor due to urbanization and its impact on their interactions and participation in religious rituals. The author suggests that younger generations are moving away from their grandfathers due to modernization and a more educated mentality. However, the study also emphasizes that despite the difficulties, dedes continue their importance and functions in preserving Alevi culture. In conclusion, this study offers an illuminating analysis about Alevism and the institution of dedelik and provides valuable perspectives for further research.
