Notes Within the framework of today's historiography trends, one of the areas where studies are concentrated is local history. Consular reports are of particular importance in terms of their preparation within the sources of local history, their content, their resource value and continuity. The documents left by the consulates are taken into consideration by historians mostly from an economic perspective. However, considering the change in the duties of the consuls, it can be seen that the reports prepared by the consuls have become richer over time. Consuls reported on every issue they deemed important from a political, military, commercial and social perspective. In this regard, there is a lot of information that today's researcher will find in consular documents. XIX. Erzurum, which hosted representatives of great powers in the 19th century, is also seen to be a rich center in terms of consular resources. In this context, this study aims to introduce the correspondence about Erzurum in the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs Archives in Paris and Nantes and to touch upon the importance of these sources for research on Erzurum local history.
