| Notes | It is a fact that the Ottoman Empire could not fully adapt to the world political and economic development since the beginning of the 19th century. Although from this period onwards, it turned to reform movements originating from Europe to close the gap, these mostly aimed to prevent external pressures or to centralize the administration against the turmoil that began to occur internally. There was no environment to discuss whether these reforms would fit the Ottoman socio-cultural structure. In the article, the structure of the society in the Ottoman modernization process is tried to be analyzed, Tanzimat and II. Information is given about the reform movements of the Abdulhamid period and the formation process of the emerging intellectual type. |
