Recently, there have been great changes in the field of communication with technological advances and social demands. The rise of the internet and social media platforms has transformed interaction between people by changing traditional communication methods. While social media creates a sense of community by facilitating the exchange of ideas and opinions, it also causes various problems among children and adolescents. Therefore, it is important that young people are guided and supported in these areas. This literature review explores the multifaceted impact of internet and social media use on children and adolescents in today's society. With the widespread use of digital technologies, the internet and social media have become an integral part of youth culture. While these platforms offer various opportunities to their users, they also involve some risks. In the research, the positive and negative effects of the internet and social media on children and adolescents were discussed. The literature review draws attention to harmful effects as well as benefits. Additionally, findings regarding which social media platforms are preferred and their usage rates are presented.
