This study aims to examine the stages that the devotees must overcome in the context of the work named Merâhilü's-sâlikîn by Muhammed Bahâuddin er-Ravvâs (d. 1287/1870), one of the 19th century Rifâiyye-Sayyâdiyye sheikhs. For many years, Sultan II. Ravvâs, who was the sheikh of Ebü'l-Hüdâ Efendi (d. 1328/1909), who was the advisor of Abdulhamid, wrote this work with the aim of renewing Islam by eliminating the bid'ahs introduced into Islam and Sufism, and, unlike the common classifications, the stages to be overcome on the path of Sufism. He divided the conditions into ten stages: conversation, knowing Allah (marifatullah), hunger, morality, learning the obligatory sciences, fearing Allah, hoping for His mercy, patience and gratitude. In his work, the author addresses not only the members of Rifaiyya, but all Muslims; He argues that living Islam perfectly is possible by following one of the Hanafi, Shafii, Maliki and Hanbali sects, and that reaching perfection in the path of Sufism is only possible by becoming affiliated with a perfect sheikh. These findings show that Ravvâs, like all Sufis, was a Sufi who gave priority to sharia. The work was deemed worth examining from this aspect. This study, in which the document analysis method was used, was carried out by comparing the copy of the mentioned work in the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Atatürk Library with its verified publication.
