Notes Joseph Rickby (1845-1932) is a historian of philosophy who adopts a Jesuit approach and a theologian who belongs to Catholic thought. He studied at the University of London for a semester and then taught ethics and natural law. St. He stated that Thomas Aquinas's doctrine has a criticism against empiricism and Hegelianism. He subsequently published an annotated English translation of Aquinas's Summa contra Gentiles. This is considered Rickaby's most important work. In 1926 St. Rickaby, who retired from Bueno's College, wrote 60 articles and nearly 30 books between 1870 and 1930. Books written on different periods of the history of philosophy examine the ideas of philosophers throughout the ages about the foundations of human values and existence and how these play a role in human activities and behavior. The work we will evaluate here provides information about what scholasticism was during the Middle Ages. Composing his work clearly and simply from a Roman Catholic perspective, the author makes basic explanations about the origins of Scholasticism, its rise in the thirteenth century, its decline and what its modern revival might be like, and its place in ethics and politics.
