Notes The “Arab state” also went through five stages of the state life cycle, as described by Ibn Khaldun. It has also witnessed many transformations. In this context, how can we analyze political and social transformations and their interactions with each other? How can we understand this current special phase, which, as far as we know so far, lies between the collapse of the “Arab state” and the rise of the “new” one, in the light of Ibn Khaldun's theory? This new phase is characterized by ethnic conflicts that have become more evident after the Arab Spring. What are the possible ways out of despotism and violence? This article attempts to answer these questions by applying Ibn Khaldun's theoretical framework regarding current events and the context of the Arab world.
