Notes The historical city of Tabriz, which has been home to the Turks for centuries; It has been under the rule of many states, large or small, throughout its history due to economic, religious and geopolitical reasons. Hz. This city came under Islamic rule with Omar; After the Seljuk, Ildenizli and Khwarezmshah States, it experienced the peak of its history with the Ilkhanid period - especially during the reign of Gāzân Khan. Tabriz, which frequently changed hands between the Celayirids, Timurids and other Turkmen states in the following periods, unfortunately faced many wars, destruction and earthquakes; It has survived until today, having lost some of its historical traces. Today, it continues to be the fourth largest city in Iran with a population of 4.5 million, the majority of which are Turks. The city came under the rule of Islam with the second caliph Omar; reached the peak of its history with the Ilkhanid period -especially under the reign of Ghazan Khan- after the Seljuk, Ildenizid and Khwarazmian dynasties. Tabriz, which frequently changed hands between the rules of Jalayirids, Timurids and other Turkmen states in the later periods; unfortunately suffered many wars, destructions and earthquakes, and it has reached today by losing some of its historical traces. Today, it continues to be the fourth largest city in Iran, with a population of 4.5 million, the majority of which is Turks.
