Notes Just as every society has a city model, the Muslim society regulated by Islamic law also has a city model according to its own worldview and the type of relationship it envisages. The hadiths attributed to the Prophet regarding the privacy of the house and the observance of neighbors' rights provided the norms for construction that shaped this model. Special sections on construction have emerged in fiqh books as Islamic jurists interpreted the hadiths regarding the inviolability of the dwelling and the prevention of harm to neighbors. These sections later became the source for the creation of special texts for construction. These texts, which are based on the functions and legal structures of the walls, have turned into "amele", that is, practice, as a special branch of Islamic law with the theme of fiqh al-bunyan/construction law in different parts of the Islamic geography. Although there is more emphasis on topography and tradition in spatial analysis of the cities of Islamic geography, Islamic construction law, which has its own norms and is responsible, has been ignored. In this article, the influence and reflections of Islamic construction law on the space production of the area built on the southern slopes of the castle, which forms the basis of Mardin's urban identity, are discussed. In this context, the role of Islamic construction law in the reproduction, regulation and maintenance of urban space in the process from the initial formation of the settlement at the foot of the castle, which started with the Mervanis, to the urban identity it gained in the Artuqid Period, and from there to the end of the Ottoman sovereignty, is examined by referring to both the literature on the subject and the Mardin Sharia Registers.
