VII. The Mihna period, which was officially started by the Abbasid Caliph Ma'mun in 218/833 and officially ended by the Xth Abbasid Caliph Mutawakkil in 234/848, is a break in Muslim history. The essence of the Mihna process is to force the state authority to accept the belief that the Quran was created, with the claim of freeing Allah (swt) from glorifying and exemplifying. What happened in this strictly ideological period, when it was made a state doctrine and all kinds of oppression and cruelty were deemed necessary for those who did not accept this idea, affected the society and especially the Islamic literature. How the issue started and who the first claimants were is the subject of this study. The claim of this study is that the idea of "halku'l-Qur'an" as a divider of society is a result of the mental transformation experienced in the Muslim society at that time, rather than the effect of the propaganda of some people with heretical thoughts in the early period.
