| Notes | The decline in poetry in the early years of Islam is a subject that Arab critics have always addressed. There are two views regarding this situation: The first of these: Arabic Poetry maintained its level in the early years of Islam. The second opinion is that poetry has not lost its level. Each of these views has evidence that grounds the issue. Our determination in this research: Arabic poetry weakened in the first years of Islam for three reasons. The first is the language of poetry. What is meant by the language of poetry is that the language of the poets belongs to the period of ignorance. However, this language is not at a level to cover Islamic issues. The second reason is that Islam forbids lying in poetry. For this reason, Muslim poets did not use a language containing lies in their poems, as in ignorance. The third reason is: New issues came with Islam. Poets could not easily write poems about these new topics that were foreign to them. Because they were familiar with the subjects of ignorant poetry |
