Notes
In this article, XVII. The Sufi understanding of Sheikh Ahmed Cizîrî, who lived in Cizre in the Southeast of Anatolia in the 19th century, is examined. Cizîrî's mystical perspective is examined within the framework of the poems in his Dîvân. In every letter and word, in every couplet and line of Cizîrî's poems, the way and truths of how to know and experience God are explained with great artistry and finesse. The key to knowing his understanding of Sufism is to be able to decipher the meaning-heavy themes he uses in his poetry. It is difficult to encounter another Sufi who performed poetry with meaningful concepts like him during his time. However, the name of an investigative mystic like Cizîrî is not mentioned in any study that deals with Ottoman Sufi studies periodically. Knowing the Sufi views of this important Sufi and understanding the scientific explanations and interpretations he brought to Sufi concepts in the form of poetry will undoubtedly open new horizons in evaluating Sufi concepts. That's why Cizîrî is an important gem and value whose discovery has been long overdue.
