Notes	Osman b., an important reformer, preacher and Sufi who grew up in the 18th century in today's Nigeria. The prominent aspect of Fûdî (d. 1232/1817) was his struggle against the bid'ahs that emerged during his time. He tried to fulfill his duty as a scholar against the society, which he thought had moved away from the Sunnah line, with his work titled İhyâu's-Sunne and ihmâdu'l-bid'a, which he wrote within the scope of this struggle. In this study, a critical presentation of the author's work was made. It has been observed that the author has a good command of the literature on the subject and that previous studies are frequently referenced in the work. In the preface, he emphasized that the decision-making and intervention authority on whether a religious practice is bid'ah should be scholars, not the common people, and he took care not to cause social chaos in the fight against bid'ahs. He warned that one should avoid labeling controversial issues as bid'ah, but in the later stages of the work, he did not refrain from declaring that many controversial issues were abhorrent bid'ah. In this respect, there are sometimes contradictory situations in the work. The author made evaluations about what kind of harmful consequences some practices with a religious motif may have in the long term for the Islamic society. In the study, such comments were especially emphasized and an attempt was made to clarify the awareness of the anti-bid'ah stance that the work could give to today's Islamic societies.
